Vision Statement
To be a progressive, customer focused construction program, recognized as a national leader in providing a relevant educational experience.

Mission Statement
To provide our students with an accredited construction educational experience aligned with industry and community needs that emphasizes interpersonal and technological skills.

CNS Division Goals

Goal 1) The CNS Division will prepare students to work in an integrated design and construction industry.
  We will accomplish this by:
  1. Maintaining ACCE accreditation
  2. Receiving verifiable input on our curriculum from the CNS Board of Visitors, alumni and industry employers.
  3. Developing innovative curricula addressing the integrated design and construction industry.
  4. Integrating and focusing our research and service into relevant classroom projects.
  5. Emphasizing interpersonal and technological skills throughout the curriculum.

Goal 2)

Continually strive to improve relationships with industry, students and the community at large.
  We will accomplish this by:
  1. Accepting teaching, research and service projects that foster industry and academic partnerships.
  2. Promoting Community service in division activities.
  3. Maintaining active involvement in professional organizations.
  4. Providing outreach opportunities to industry.

Goal 3) Develop resources to attract and retain quality faculty.
  We will accomplish this by:
  1. Providing opportunities to develop innovative curricula in each professor’s area of expertise.
  2. Continue promoting professional development of faculty.
  3. Seeking funding to improve CNS professors’ salaries.

Goal 4) Continually promote the CNS program.
  We will accomplish this by:
  1. Supplying the construction industry with qualified graduates.
  2. Attending professional organization meetings.
  3. Publicizing the benefits of our activities to alumni, industry, students and the community at large.

Goal 5)

Develop resources to increase both the quality and diversity of the student population.
  We will accomplish this by:
  1. Increasing the awareness of our degree to high school students.
  2. Increasing the awareness of the CNS degree to OU students.
  3. Actively seeking scholarship funding for minorities and women.

Goal 6) Develop and maintain professional facilities
  We will accomplish this by:
  1. Improving the furnishings and appearance of the faculty offices.
  2. Continuing to improve the CNS hallway, conference and seminar room.
  3. Improving the technology in the conference/seminar room.
  4. Continuing to update and improve the CNS classroom.
